Crochet

I started crochet maybe 2 years ago or so. I began with knitting, first in high school (totally unsuccessfully) then again a few years ago. I liked the idea of making my own items and doing something repetitive to relax while I watched tv. I gave crochet a try on a whim and found it to be way more intuitive and easy for me than knitting.

I don't follow patterns as I prefer the process of experimenting with freehand.

Jewelry

I started making jewelry a few years ago when I wanted necklaces/earrings but was frustrated with how much it cost, even just crummy costume jewelry from the mall. Then I got really into making bead necklaces after reading about history and realizing just how old the practice of making jewelry like that is (tens of thousands of years, possibly older).

It's also occurring to me that these are terrible pictures and I really need to take better ones.

Materials used: Stainless steel chains and wires, buffalo horn beads, an ammonite fossil, petrified wood beads, glass beads, and natural semiprecious stones (agate, amethyst, apatite, aquamarine, aventurine, carnelian, diopside, jade, labradorite, lapis lazuli, moonstone, peridot, and multiple varieties of quartz)

Drawings

Drawing was one of my very first and favorite hobbies, I still remember getting a 100+ set of crayons when I was, like, 6 and treasuring it. I took art classes through school but then didn't draw a single thing once I graduated for at least 10 years before starting up again with lazy abstract doodles.
