The Witch
Anthy is the Rose Bride, a key position in the dueling tournament at Ohtori Academy. Reigning winner possesses her as their bride, giving them total control of her and ultimately granting them entrance to the mysterious castle and the power of eternity.
Anthy is a person of duality. She has the appearance of being totally submissive and subservient. She obeys the winner of the duels with no question. She speaks only when spoken to, tends to her roses, and fulfills her obligations as the Rose Bride. Due to her passiveness, she is constantly abused and demeaned. She is seen as a helpless victim.
This is not all that Anthy is. She is a witch. She possesses incredible magical powers - pulling enchanted swords from peoples' bodies, imbuing them with the power of Dios, surviving the million swords of hatred. Her personality is also an act, simply another part of her duties. In reality, her true loyalty is always to her brother Akio. She is aware the duels are a hoax created to ensure and exploit the duelists in order for Akio to chase power. Anthy exists to help him achieve this end.
Anthy is the most powerful character in the series and yet she is most fully trapped by her love and attachment to another. She has lived countless lifetimes trapped in her gilded cage, serving her prince, shielding him from suffering.
